Tot Asai was born in Hood River in 1915 and graduated from the old Hood River High School where he participated on the tennis team. He attended 2 years of college and then served four years in the United States Army during World War II. After the war, he returned to the family orchard in Hood River which his family still operates.
This memorial scholarship offers one $2,500 award per year.
CRITERIA
- Applicant is a female HRVHS student
- Participated in extra-curricular activities such as sports, school clubs, 4-H, and/or community volunteering. Extra weight for participation in sports such as tennis or track.
- Is a member of a minority or marginalized group
- Worked summers or during the school year to contribute towards college expenses
SUPPLEMENTAL
- One Confidential Evaluation Form from an extracurricular adviser or employer, it can’t be from the same person who provided your letter of recommendation.
- Essay: The lessons we take from life experiences can be fundamental to later success. Describe a challenge/setback, event, accomplishment, or realization that sparked personal growth and deepened your understanding of yourself or others. In your response, explain how this experience influenced your perspective or shaped who you are today.
- The FAFSA / ORSAA is required for this scholarship.
