Sally Hackett Connell was born in Oak Ridge Tennessee on April 17, 1945. After World War II, the family moved back to Hood River. She attended the public schools and graduated in 1963. Sally was a member of the Honor Society and participated in many activities.
After high school, Sally attended Oregon State University, majoring in secretarial science. She received her degree in 1967. Her first job was with the CIA in Washington, DC. She later moved with her husband to San Jose, CA where they had two children. When her younger son was only two years old, she entered San Jose State and received a Masters Degree in Library Science. A few years later, she went to Santa Clara University and was awarded a paralegal degree.
The last five years of her life, she was employed by the City of Sunnyvale as the office manager and paralegal for the Prosecuting Attorney.
Sally never lost her affection for Hood River and tried to never miss a class reunion. Learning and education were always paramount interests in her life. Sally died in 2003 after a short bout with cancer.
One scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded to a deserving graduating senior from Hood River Valley High School who will be attending Oregon State University

- Must attend Oregon State University (OSU)
