Megan Perkins was born and raised in Hood River and graduated from HRVHS in 1983. She dedicated her life to music, playing clarinet in the band, singing in the choir, and performing in musicals.
Throughout her life she never lost her love for music and performance. She kept this love alive by volunteering for 21 years with the Mid-Columbia Lions Follies, starting as a performer and contributing the last few years as their vocal director.
In honor of Megan’s devotion to the Follies, a scholarship was created in her memory. This is a $1,500 scholarship to one student per year.
CRITERIA
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Demonstrates financial need but does not qualify for Federal Pell Grant
- Has participated in performing arts (theater, music, band, etc) at HRVHS
- Plans to attend a 4-year college or university
SUPPLEMENTAL
- One Confidential Evaluation Form from an HRVHS performing arts teacher
- Essay: Discuss the role that music, performing arts, or visual arts have played in your life, your personal goals, the role you hope it will play in your future.
- The FAFSA / ORSAA is required for this scholarship
SCORING
- Financial Need based on FAFSA or equivalent (but does not qualify for Federal Pell Grant) (25%)
- Involvement in performing arts (theater, music, band) at HRVHS through activities chart (25%)
