Kyle Marin Wood was born and raised in Hood River and graduated from Hood River Valley High School in 1992. His interests included electronics, mechanics, and technology. At his core he valued family and relationships the most. After high school Kyle moved to Alaska where he was first introduced to the glass industry. Upon returning to Hood River in 2003, Kyle established his roots, raised a family, and began his 18-year career with Cardinal IG Hood River. Kyle was a respected leader, and mentor to many because he led and inspired with his heart and core values.
In 2021, Kyle lost his battle to Neuroendocrine Pancreatic Cancer. He is missed by his loved ones and all who had the pleasure of knowing him and his warm smile. His family finds comfort in honoring Kyle’s life and legacy with the establishment of this scholarship by Cardinal IG Hood River. Its purpose is to provide financial assistance to a HRVHS graduate who is motivated to become a prosperous and successful member of society through a 2-year trade, or 4-year educational opportunity, in meeting their life goals.
Kyle would have been proud to have a scholarship in his name, and to provide a student in need the opportunity to realize their life goals.
This is one scholarship of $2,500.

- Cumulative GPA of 3.00
- Business-related field of study preferred
- Financial Need

- Essay: “Describe an individual, or event, in your life, that has been an example of good direction, and leadership, and how you applied that lesson in your life.” 500 word maximum length
- The FAFSA / ORSAA is not required for this scholarship, but it is encouraged.
