Jason Ashby grew up in rural Crown Point, Indiana and was raised at Stone Hill Farm. His early life was filled with being involved in 4-H and learning the many skills and responsibilities of raising, and caring for, animals on the farm. Jason became an authority on the Jacob sheep by age 13 and routinely spoke with companies, and at conventions, about the value and virtues of the Jacob sheep. Jason’s secondary education led him to Washington State University in Pullman, WA where he pursued Biology with an interest in animal husbandry.
Leadership came naturally to Jason as he helped others to work better by encouraging them in the things they did well. He then helped people find enough success in the things they did well that they might be able to work at new challenges that needed some extra effort. Jason learned early in his life while growing up on a farm about the importance of making connections for helping with learning new things. Doing a good job with his farm animals and 4-H projects, and in school, caring for the people he came to know and learn from in the community became life’s most important connection. It was no surprise that Jason continued to apply that care in connecting the people within his professional life and employer at Cardinal IG Hood River. Jason was an excellent leader and mentor to many at Cardinal.
