1. Browse Available Scholarships

This year there are over 70 scholarships available for students. For ease of browsing, the scholarships have been divided into four categories: scholarships with academic requirements, scholarships with financial need requirements, scholarships with both financial and academic need requirements, and scholarships with neither as requirements. Students may also browse scholarship by tag, using the drop-down menu on right side of the screen. The HRVHS Counseling Office and the ASPIRE program encourage students to browse all scholarship categories.

When researching potential scholarships, it is vital to carefully read the scholarship criteria for each individual scholarship. Students who do not meet the criteria for a given scholarship will not be considered.

2. Make a List

After double checking that you meet all individual scholarship requirements, create a list of the scholarships you plan to apply to. Start by making a list for all scholarships that interest you. After reviewing the list with a parent or Guidance Counselor, decide which scholarships you will apply for. Once you have finalized your list, you are ready to proceed to the next step.

3. Complete the Student Bio

Completing the Student Bio is the first step in submitting your scholarship applications. This form asks students for their name, contact information, college choices, and the list of scholarships you intend to apply for. Consequently, in order to submit the Student Bio, you must have a list of scholarships you plan to apply for.

After submitting your Student Bio, you will receive two emails at your @hoodriver.k12.or.us account. The first email is a simple confirmation that we have received your completed Student Bio. After we process your Student Bio, you will receive an email from Alex Fleming containing your E-Scholarship Google Drive Folder and detailed instructions on how to upload your application documents.

Please allow up to 72 hours for the second email. If you do not see either email in your inbox, check your spam folder. If you did not receive an email, contact Alex Fleming (alex.fleming@hoodriver.k12.or.us).

4. Obtain Common Forms

Common forms are documents that are required for any scholarship listed on the Eschol website regardless of application criteria. Scholarships that do not have academic requirements still require a copy of your official transcript and scholarships without a financial need requirement still receive copies of your financial statement and FAFSA/ORSAA. The common forms this year are:

  • Unofficial Transcript (with first trimester grades)
  • Financial Statement
  • Activities Chart
  • FAFSA SAR or ORSAA

Students will submit one copy of each of these documents to the “Common Forms” folder of their assigned E-Scholarship Google Drive Folder. HRCEF will then send copies to the scholarships committees for each scholarship you apply to. For more information on obtaining and submitting each common document, visit the Common Forms page using the link below.

5. Gather Supplementary Documents

Most scholarships require one or more supplementary documents, typically an essay / personal statement, Confidential Evaluation Form, or List of References. Detailed instructions and advice for supplements are covered on the Supplementary Documents page.

Students will submit all supplementary documents to the appropriate scholarship folder in their assigned E-Scholarship Google Drive Folder.

Note: Students must obtain copies of their Transcript and Activities Chart before making any requests for Confidential Evaluation Forms.
