The Sheppard Family owns and operates CM & WO Sheppard, Inc., a 104 year-old business founded in 1919 that sells and repairs agricultural machinery and supplies. Members of the Sheppard Family fund this scholarship to encourage students who are the first generation in their family to pursue post-secondary education in the fields of agriculture, agri-business, or agriculture machinery repair and maintenance.
One scholarship of $1500, renewable for one additional year with good academic standing
CRITERIA
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5
- Intent to pursue training and career in agriculture, agricultural machinery repair and maintenance, or agri-business
- Must be first generation family member to attend post-secondary education

- Essay: The Hood River Rotary Club is a community service organization whose motto is “Service Above Self.” Established in 1927, the Club is part of Rotary International, a global network of more than 45,000 clubs and 1.2 million members.
- In 400 to 700 words, write an essay on what “Service Above Self” means to you. Share at least one example of your community service and describe the effect it had on you personally and on those you served. Reflect on how this concept relates to your own motives and values, and discuss your plans and aspirations for life after high school, including how you might incorporate community service into your future.
Community service may include volunteering in your school, community, or place of worship, as well as service to your family—such as caring for an elderly relative, supporting younger siblings, or holding an after-school job to help with household expenses.
