A total of $3,500 in scholarship money is available. The number of scholarships awarded and the dollar amount awarded is at the discretion of the Columbia Gorge Fruit Growers’ Scholarship Committee.
High school seniors and students currently enrolled in college are eligible to apply. Funds will be sent directly to scholarship recipients.
- High school seniors will receive the funds upon enrollment. Recipient will need to provide proof of registration/enrollment prior to receiving funds.
- Current college students will receive the funds after providing verification of enrollment for the following term.
High school student recipients will be announced during their respective high school award events. College student recipients will be notified no later than the end of May during the application year.
CRITERIA
- Student must have a parent/legal guardian that is:
- A verified member of Columbia Gorge Fruit Growers Association (Include parent’s name), OR
- Student must have a parent/legal guardian that is employed by a tree fruit operation in the Mid-Columbia area (Include the name of the parent and the name of the employer), OR
- Student is currently/will be enrolled in a program related to agriculture. Preference will be given to students planning to study agriculture.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher
- Student must be a high school graduate by June of the current year from a Mid-Columbia area high school and be considered a resident of Hood River, Wasco, Sherman, Klickitat, or Skamania Counties.
SUPPLEMENTAL
- Essay: How has agriculture impacted your life? What do you plan to study, and what influenced you to choose this field of study?
- Applicants must identify their connection to the agricultural industry, if applicable.
